Questions about Stud.
Stud is an AI agent for prefab builders. It turns a 2D plan into a 3D model, the quantities to price the job, then panels and framing ready for production. Below, the questions builders ask us most.
Which plans can I give Stud?
DXF plans, PDF plans, plan images and sketches. DWG files are not read: save them as DXF or PDF first. Clean, dimensioned plans give the best results.
What does Stud build?
The 3D model of the building (levels, walls, openings, floors, roofs), the quantities, then panels and framing in light gauge steel or timber. It also gives concrete block quantities. It does not handle cast concrete.
Does Stud calculate prices or structures?
No. Stud gives quantities, not prices, and it does not run structural calculations or check building codes. Pricing stays with you, structural design with your engineer.
Which files can I take out?
With the Take-off plan, the quantities in Excel, CSV and PDF. With the Framer plan, machine files for Howick and Tekla Pinnacle roll-formers, IFC (architecture, framing, panels) and production PDFs (framing layout per level, panel sheets).
Is the agent fully autonomous?
It works on its own and asks when a dimension is missing. You guide it, check each step and stay in control.
Is Stud in beta?
Yes. Create your account, answer 3 quick questions and you're in, with 200 free credits. No card required.
What happens to my plans and projects?
Your projects are private to your account. A project is shared only if you create a share link, which is read-only and can be turned off at any time.
Which languages does Stud speak?
The agent answers in the language you write in. The app and this site are in English and French.
